Autowatch Ghost Bluetooth

The Ghost products can be disarmed using both Bluetooth fobs and Bluetooth smartphone applications. This help guide will, hopefully, assist in getting your system connected and working correctly. This guide will help you through the many processes that might be needed when trying to troubleshoot the Bluetooth connection and pairing with the Ghost.

1. Installing the application

There are a few differences between the Ghost immobiliser variants regarding the Bluetooth functionality however they all use the same applications. These can be downloaded here.

These applications work for all versions of Ghost immobiliser. Please install the application and have it open and ready along with the 6 digit Bluetooth pairing code from the back of your emergency card.

Warning: Android device compatibility

Some Android devices are not compatible with the Bluetooth Low Energy required to run the Ghost application. At the moment this is limited to some Huawei phones.


2. Pairing a phone to a Ghost-II or Ghost Pro

  1. Switch the ignition on. Do not start the engine
  2. Enter your disarm sequence.
  3. Press and hold the accelerator pedal to the floor.
  4. Enter the sequence again. The indication will flash every 3 seconds (Learn Mode).
  5. Release the accelerator.
  6. Press the service button once
  7. Press the + button in the application
  8. Wait for the pairing pop-up and enter the 6 digit pairing code

Note

On some vehicles the accelerator pedal is not available, use the high-beam pulled towards you as the alternative. Should you not be able to enter learn mode please get hold of us and we will be able to assist


3. Pairing a phone to a Ghost-III

  1. Switch the ignition on. Do not start the engine
  2. Enter your disarm sequence.
  3. Press and hold the accelerator pedal to the floor.
  4. Enter the sequence again. The indication will flash every 3 seconds (Learn Mode).
  5. Release the accelerator and wait for a few indication flashes to confirm learn mode.
  6. Press the accelerator to the floor and release 3 times and wait for 3 flash confirmation
  7. Press the accelerator to the floor and release once and wait for 1 flash confirmation
  8. Press the accelerator to the floor and release once and wait for 1 flash confirmation
  9. Press the + button in the application
  10. Wait for the pairing pop-up and enter the 6 digit pairing code

4. Preparing the fob for pairing mode

Do this procedure once the Ghost is in fob pairing mode. See how to do that for your Ghost version in the sections below this.

  1. Open the fob and remove the battery
  2. Press and hold the button and insert the battery between the terminals, the LED will start to flash every second (red or green, version dependent)
  3. Should a Ghost be in fob pairing mode the pairing process will happen and the LED will long flash the alternate colour (red or green, version dependent)

5. Pairing a fob to a Ghost-II or Ghost Pro

  1. Switch the ignition on. Do not start the engine
  2. Enter your disarm sequence.
  3. Press and hold the accelerator pedal to the floor.
  4. Enter the sequence again. The indication will flash every 3 seconds (Learn Mode).
  5. Release the accelerator.
  6. Press the service button twice
  7. Force the fob into pairing mode and wait for the indication to double flash to confirm pairing

6. Pairing a fob to a Ghost-III

  1. Switch the ignition on. Do not start the engine
  2. Enter your disarm sequence.
  3. Press and hold the accelerator pedal to the floor.
  4. Enter the sequence again. The indication will flash every 3 seconds (Learn Mode).
  5. Release the accelerator and wait for a few indication flashes to confirm learn mode.
  6. Press the accelerator to the floor and release 3 times and wait for 3 flash confirmation
  7. Press the accelerator to the floor and release twice and wait for 2 flash confirmation
  8. Press the accelerator to the floor and release once and wait for 1 flash confirmation
  9. Force the fob into pairing mode and wait for the indication to double flash to confirm pairing

7. Troubleshooting

There are many ways that the Bluetooth pairing could fail. This is part of the complexity of the different Bluetooth Low Energy implementations done by various phone manufacturers as well as the previous state of the Ghost immobiliser's Bluetooth memory.

If nothing is working or pairing it is suggested to do the full fob and phone clearing process. This varies between devices.

Bluetooth Memory Reset

Ghost-II/Ghost Pro

These devices use the following procedure.

  1. Switch the ignition on. Do not start the engine
  2. Enter your disarm sequence.
  3. Press and hold the accelerator pedal to the floor.
  4. Enter the sequence again. The indication will flash every 3 seconds (Learn Mode).
  5. Release the accelerator.
  6. Enter your disarm sequence and wait for 3 flashes
  7. Enter your disarm sequence again and wait for 2 flashes
  8. Within 10 seconds press the service button 10 times and wait for 2 flashes

Now that this process has been done the Ghost-II/Ghost Pro will have a completely cleared Bluetooth memory and pairing can be attempted again.

Ghost-III

These units require the following procedure to clear the Ghost-III Bluetooth memory.

This will clear the phones from the Ghost-III

  1. Switch the ignition on. Do not start the engine
  2. Enter your disarm sequence.
  3. Press and hold the accelerator pedal to the floor.
  4. Enter the sequence again. The indication will flash every 3 seconds (Learn Mode).
  5. Release the accelerator and wait for a few indication flashes to confirm learn mode.
  6. Press the accelerator to the floor and release 3 times and wait for 3 flash confirmation
  7. Press the accelerator to the floor and release once and wait for 1 flash confirmation
  8. Press the accelerator to the floor and release twice and wait for 2 flash confirmation

This will clear the fobs from the Ghost-III

  1. Switch the ignition on. Do not start the engine
  2. Enter your disarm sequence.
  3. Press and hold the accelerator pedal to the floor.
  4. Enter the sequence again. The indication will flash every 3 seconds (Learn Mode).
  5. Release the accelerator and wait for a few indication flashes to confirm learn mode.
  6. Press the accelerator to the floor and release 3 times and wait for 3 flash confirmation
  7. Press the accelerator to the floor and release twice and wait for 2 flash confirmation
  8. Press the accelerator to the floor and release twice and wait for 2 flash confirmation

Bluetooth firmware update

The Ghost Bluetooth firmware can be updated using the iOS and Android application.

Once downloaded you need to follow these steps to get the Ghost into Bluetooth update mode.

Ghost-II/Ghost Pro

  1. Switch the ignition on. Do not start the engine
  2. Enter your disarm sequence.
  3. Press and hold the accelerator pedal to the floor.
  4. Enter the sequence again. The indication will flash every 3 seconds (Learn Mode).
  5. Release the accelerator.
  6. Press the service button 20 times

Ghost-III

  1. Switch the ignition on. Do not start the engine
  2. Enter your disarm sequence.
  3. Press and hold the accelerator pedal to the floor.
  4. Enter the sequence again. The indication will flash every 3 seconds (Learn Mode).
  5. Release the accelerator and wait for a few indication flashes to confirm learn mode.
  6. Press the accelerator to the floor and release 3 times and wait for 3 flash confirmation
  7. Press the accelerator to the floor and release 3 times and wait for 3 flash confirmation
  8. Press the accelerator to the floor and release once and wait for 1 flash confirmation

Once the Ghost is in Bluetooth update mode you can open the Ghost BT Update application and select the update file for the device.

Note

At the time of publishing there are 2 versions available, the oldest being 7.9.7 and the latest being 8.2.0 Use the latest version unless specifically instructed not to. For example, some very old fobs will only pair with 7.9.7 firmware
